Ball joints?

Got a 1999 mazda b 2500 with 104000k with well taken miles on it.I now hear a pop from the left side when i start to drive off.The boot around the a arm ball joint is half missing.Lifted the wheel off the ground and cannot make it pop.

Is there any play in it?

Has no play.

Has it got a grease zerk? If so lube it up. Do all and any you can find while your at it. I replaced the ball joints no my B4000. It isn't that bad of a job.
