So I could have used the flex plate that was between my 302 and C4 that was originally in my 70 Mustang... in the Ranger?
Nope, that 86 flexplate will be a 50 oz/in, you need a 28 oz/in for a 70 302. As for the C5's they were in production during the transition from the 28 to 50 oz cranks(1980-84?) , as such, they can have either balance weight. The transition was sometime in 81-82 for the change in cranks.
