I have a plan to bag and bodydrop a '87 BII. Would it be easier to work with the BII frame or I was thinking of swapping the body onto a ranger frame. I like the idea of the frame swap but would it work better?

I'd run a different front clip on your existing frame. something like S10 or Toyota.

im not sure which one this guy used but i thought you might like to see this...

if you REALLY want to stick with i-beams, then you'll want to put a Ranger 2wd engine crossmember in your B2 frame.

But really, a lot of people like to go with Toyota front clips, or if you feel like spending money you could put a Mustang II suspension in it.

Thanks for the ideas. I have seen that green B2 and it is slick. I will probably go with the engine cradle/front end idea with the Ranger. I want a 4.0L too so I think that would be the best way to go.

Mustang ii and 84-94 toyota pickups have the best geometry. If your going to body drop it I would start there and then build the rest of the chassis out of 2x3 3/16" wall tube. But if you are determinded to keep the I beams get a ranger front clip, DJM beams and use custom made tube brackets or these http://www.illusivefabrications.com...file=product_info&cPath=29_36&products_id=321 I can also put together a custom air kit tailored to your needs as well.

Thanks slammedx. You're really making the lowriders sections knowledgable. I will not be fabbing a complete frame so a front clip will be grafted on. This is going to be my college project so I have 2 years to get it done. I still have to find a BII and a donor frame.

You don't have to graft a ranger front clip to your existing frame. Just swap out the engine crossmember. A jack between the frame rails may be necessary to get it out and back in. A friend of mine did it with his explorer to make it a 2wd with ranger I beams.

I was just gona say I wonder if that would work on an explorer haha. I never thought about it, I allways thought the frames were different widths since the beams were. I'll have to look into that a little bit more when I get my R&D clip back over here from storage. The only other thing I would look into as well is the steering linkages because if they are positioned differently between the 3 trucks it could cause steering issues.

I will measure up to see if the engine cradle will fit between the frame. I am with with slammed I thought the frames were different as the beams are different.

I will come across the steering issue when I make a decision on the front end set up. I figure if the frames are the same but the beams are different, then I can use the Ranger cradle and the original Bronco steering. I may have to customize the linkage a little but I think it will work.

I wold measure the rivits on the bottom of the frame and see if they match up. It is possable that the beams are just a different length but who knows with Ford and there goofy suspension designs except the M2.

lookin good for sure. I found a donor body and I got it sitting in my shed up north but I still dnt have a frame. I am going to body drop my static ranger this winter I think while it's sitting in my driveway.

that BII is bagged and bodied on 19's with beams. his bags are on his radius arm

here some more you can drool over MUAHAHHAHA
