Well, my truck has a bad vibration around 55mph and higher. Seems to only be the worst at 55mph, go faster and it calms down a little bit. It's not the rear as i just had it redone with new gears, and its had the vibrations before i had anything done. I checked the u-joints in the rear driveshaft and they are good, no slop or anything in them. Any ideas? 1993 Ford Ranger Splash 3.0 4x4

Thanks,

Tires out of balance, carrier bearing if you have one, driveshaft out of balance...those would be my top 3 guesses.

Tires are good, i personally watched the guy balance the tires on the new wheels. 1 piece driveshaft.
How would i find out if the driveshaft is outta balance? I can yank a spare driveshaft outta my donor truck to throw in there, they look almost identical.
I've had the truck since 2003, it didnt develope the vibrations until maybe 05 or 06, trucks been sitting for quite a while.

i bought a b2 once with a bad vibration .. turns out the guy put the rear drive shaft in backwards ..

Might check motor mounts and stuff too. I'd try swapping driveshafts since you have one if you're sure the u-joints are good. I've had one with just one questionable cap that vibrated. You have to take driveshafts to a driveline shop to have them balanced. Sometimes the weights fall off or get knocked off on a rock or something.

Yeah, i think im just gonna see if the shafts are the same, and if they are, swap them out and try it then. Also going to check my double cardans u joints just to be sure,i know i've replaced the rear u joint in it once before and it didnt show any play, but i'll be sure to check once the shaft is out to make the final decision.
