Hey guys. I had a tune-up made on my truck about a month ago. new spark plugs, fuel and air filter. Only thing is, since then, i've been getting bad gas consuption... I usually get around 12l/100 km. Since then, ive been hanging around in the 13s... Wtf??? help me out here i'm clueless. I haven't change my driving style and been doing the same road forth and back for the past 6 months... Thx
Almost forgot, 2002 ranger 4x4 with 4.0 It's ben chilly so not the a/c drawning.

If everything was done properly, Im clueless...Just an idea but You said it was chilly, are you using defrost? using defrost uses the ac compressor....

ive heard problem problems with cracking spark plugs when installing the right rear plug. its mostly cuz it in such a crazy angle that you might put too much pressure from the side causing it to have stress fractures. then this causes it to arc on the engine block. i i hope this all made sense.

What type of plugs did you use? I noticed a drop in my power and efficency when I switched from the FACTORY Autolite with nearly 180 000km on it when I got the truck, and switched to NGK's. As sad as it was, I was getting better power and efficency from the Autolites with 180 000km on them (they were regapped, many times). When it comes time for my spring tune-up, I'm going to go back to Autolite everything, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, the works. Now yours, if I remember right, should be the coil pack design (the one without an actual distributor), that rules out the cap and rotor. Also, how are your wires (unless you have the coil on plug design), A bad wire can cause the same as a bad plug, how are the coils? (I hope I'm thining of the right engine at the moment, today has gone to shit and back, so I'm kind of out of it at the moment).

Folks understandably think theyre being cost conscious when they don't use the factory spec plugs on newer rangers with the wasted spark systems. Problem is, the spark jumps the OPPOSITE DIRECTION in half the cylinders and if they dont buy dual platinum plugs they dont get anywhere near as much life out of them. So that's another consideration.

BTW autolite dual plats can be bought for considerably less from sources other than the dealer....I paid around 5 bucks each.
