Bad signaling

Something must be wearing out in the column because my blinker will stay on after a left turn and now they just stay on instead of blinking when I use them.

I have to cycle the ranger on and off untill it resets.

First, I would make sure all the bulbs are good. The flasher depends on current flow through the bulbs to determine how fast it blinks or whether it even blinks at all. Then, try a new flasher module. Then look at the steering column. The self-canceling mechanism might be broken.

It's the self canceling mechanism that I'm worried about.

I will definitely go through the steps before reaching that point.

There is a couple of pawls that engage a gear in the mechanism. I'm suspection that the one is damage or broken. I'm having a similar issue in the 2011. It mostly works for now but doesn't automatically disengage after the turn like it supposed to. The onlyway to fix it is to replace the unit as far as I'm aware of.

As far as the light just coming on and not blicking is a sticky flasher. Being a sealed unit, the only way to fix it is to replace it, assuming the bulbs are in good condition.

I had a similar issue with the 2008 Ranger that I used to have after I would make a left turn, the stalk wouldn't return to the middle position and I had to manually move it myself. It turned out that the stalk was breaking apart on its own and ordered a new one and installed it and solved the problem.
