any recommendations on an additive to gas to clean out potential water/ethanol separation? i have siphoned out all the gas possible without removing the tank.

dump the bad gas outta there and start fresh with an additive to PREVENT separation. or better yet use it up before that happens...or is it a boat were talking about?

Use Beeno, Bro. Glad to help you out....lol

the truck is a 1984 B2 2.8 and sits for months as it is not my daily driver. getting it ready for deer season. i am about to do the duraspark conversion along with an earlier carb. just did the clutch, master and slave cylinders ( what a b**ch to bleed).

What did the siphoned out gas look like? Does the truck run ? I wouldn't worry about potential separation. If the engine runs at all, add fresh gas and maybe some carb cleaner to the gas. I have heard of phase separation, but only had it happen once with a lawnmower. I pulled the line off the carb and drained the tank into a jar. I could see 2 layers, the gas on top. So I hooked up the line and poured most of the gas back into the tank.

When I was a kid growing up in Colorado we used to buy gas line antifreeze and dump a can in just as it started to get that cold. I think it was nothing but methyl alcohol in a can like you used to get brake fluid in. If you remember your basic chemistry alcohol absorbs water. Find a couple cans of it and it should help you out.

take beno before and there'll be no gas haha jk but yea stabil works really good

the siphoned gas did not appear to be separated, not sure if during the siphoning phase it could have become homogeneous again or not. it was certainly a lot darker than the new gas i added. battery is charging and will attempt to start in the next day or so. once i get it running again then i will do the duraspark change. want to make sure it runs to eliminate this issue prior to doing the swap. thnx for the input

Once you get it cleaned out consider buying the ethanol-free gas VP racing sells- it has a 20 year shelf like in the sealed can and will last way longer in the tank than the crappy pump gas. Yeah, its 60 bux for 5 gallons, but there will be no more issues... I get mine from a mower shop and use it in dirt bikes, generator, mower, everything that sits for awhile. They have different blends, mostly for racing, but do have some for small engines- 94 octane, unleaded, no ethanol.
