Okay, here's the deal. About 4 years ago a friend convinced me to fix my air in my truck. Well he helped me out alright. We went and got a rebuilt compressor and then used conversion oil and "conversion" R134. Well the air in the truck does work but it never gets real cool. I'm not sure what the temperature is, but I would like to get this fixed before next summer. Since I did not flush the system or replace the receiver, what do I need to do to to fix this thing right? Like I said it does work and until it gets above 85 degrees it is not too bad. So did I completely ruin the A/C?:dunno: I just want to get it right.

You definitely need a new drier, and the expansion valve or orifice tube should be replaced also. The system definitely has to be flushed good before putting in the new R134.

I'd recommend replacing all o-rings in the system for good measure too. And have it charged by a professional shop too. Cause it still may not work if you buy one of the Wal-Mart or Autozone kits and charge it with that.

Thanks for the input. I guess since it works now if I flush everything out, replace the drier, and o-rings. This should restore the system. What is a normal charge for a new fill? And what is the best way to flush the system?

Did you Vacuum the system down? you can get a cheap vacuum pump that is operated by a air compressor from harbor freight.. It actually works quite well.
