My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
on my home today I Looked a 91 full size Bronco. been driving by it everyday for 2 weeks and finally stopped today. I traded my LandCruiser for it even up.

its getting dark so I will post pics later but its a 91 Bronco XLT. 5.0L, automatic, touch 4wd (that will need to be changed). some sort of lift (unless 33's fit under it with out) and bald 33 mud tires. runs strong and shifts good and 4wd works (although it feels like the auto hubs are not unlocking). I need a new motor and switch for the back window. A/C and C/C work and so do the power windows. It has as much rust on it as my Land Cruiser. all in all I am happy with the trade. Now I have something I know how to work on.

I'm not going to talk to you while you have that disturbing avatar.

like this one better?

Congrats, can't wait to see the pics. I would definitely ditch the push button, and the auto hubs tho, as for the 33s, it will probably need at least a 3 inch lift. Just a few suggestions.

I had a 92 full size for a while. The back window didnt work either unless you leaned into the tailgate and ran it up with the key in the tailgate. So maybe it just needs whatever makes the contact to tell it the gate is closed? Mine did at least, just FYI

it already has the 33's, so it might be lifted. Plan on doing away with the push button and auto hubs.

I'll try that. the PO hooked wires up to it and you have to go directly to that batter ........ ya know like a quick fix while it was snowing because he had it down and it quit working and it just never got fixed. the back window does however need a new regulator/track and the motor sounds tired.

I wouldn't ditch the push button until it actually breaks. Everybody rags on them but I've put mine through heck and it still works perfectly after 17 years and 170,000 miles. No point in fixing it if it isn't broken.

I don't think you guys realize........ other than the 92 explorer with the dead transmission I picked up as a project that just sat in my driveway and never got driven until I just gave it to the neighbor's kids........... this is my first Ford in almost 5 years, not since I hydrolocked and sprung the frame on my 91 explorer that was my daily driver and week end warrior for 3 years.

what would cause a fuel injected 302 to blow compression back into the valve cover? I suspected head gaskets but there is no oil in the coolant or tell tale milky oil on the dip stick........ bad valve guides maybe, Cracked head? it is blowing alot of oil out of the oil cap and I can put my hand over it and feel the compression under my hand. I priced a gasket set and head bolts ...... about $100 with my commercial account at autozone. thought I would do the timing chain at the same time but I am not convinced it is head gaskets...... checking the compression would only tell me what cylinder is blowing compression in the valve cover and the only way I can think of to trouble shoot head gaskets is to actually pull the heads....... any thoughts?

thought I would add this. The guy I traded with uses the same mechanic that works on my wife's van and he told me that he put this engine in 9 months ago and it came out of a 92 E150 with 80,xxx miles on it and the odometer on the bronco read 41,xxx. it shows 64,594 right now so this engine has around 100,000 miles on it.

Is the PCV valve pulling vacuum? Pull it with the engine running and verify there is a vacuum there. If it or the line is plugged it will pressurize the the crankcase and cause your described problem.

would that also cause it to run like it had a plugged cat one minute and then run perfectly fine the next?

no check engine light
