Ok guys heres a stumper, lets see if you guys have the same idea that I have. Im not gonna tell you what I think it is because I want your input to see if it matches mine. Ok heres the situation, my girls car is broke down and refuses to drive my old honda so I let her take my truck today and it did fine on the way there but while she was coming home I get a phone call that says someone flagged her down on the freeway to tell her the backend is smoking. I told her to limp it off the freeway so she would be safe and I went down there ready to get it towed home, but it was fine while she limped it off the freeway. I decided to drive it home and have her follow me to see if anything was going on and it drove fine and was running great, all fluids and whatnot are still full so its not motor related and the rear tires are not hot so its not a dragging brake but it does have a funny heat smell by the back tires. I have my theory but what do you guys think?

So black smoke was not from the exhaust but from the rearend? Maybe they thought your girlfriend just had a smokin rear end? :icon_thumby: I can't think of anything but to double check your brakes. That's where my money would be. Any weird noises coming from the rearend?

problem... your gf stopped for somebody on the freeway.

but yeah.. she left the e-brake on

Yep my money was on the e-brake also, The light on my dash doesn't always light up so if you don't drive the thing every day you tend to forget about it. She told me it was really gutless and took a lot to get moving and about half way home while I was driving it it dawned on me:) She pretty small and doesn't push the e-brake all the way down like I do so I think that why she didn't notice it. It amazes me how long girls can drive and not notice something is wrong with the vehicle thanks guys for confirming my theory

what do i win????? lol, just kidding........my e-brake light doesnt light up either, hasnt for about 10 years. i once went through the worst hole i've ever driven my BII through with my ebrake on....no wonder i burned out my clutch so quick
