B2 transmission

I have 89 bronco ii manual transmission needs to be replaced so I'm wondering what year of vehicle would I be able to replace my transmission with that would be a fairly easy swap ?

The ones that have the same exact engine yours has.
 
You should be able to use any 2.9 or 4.0 transmission from a Ranger or Bronco II in the 86-92 vintage and probably some others. You will need a 4x4 transmission, from the factory even the 2wd B2s got 4x4 transmissions with a dummy transfer case but that only applied to the B2.
 
Best transmission to use would be 1990-2011 M5OD-R1 from a 4.0l Ranger 4x4 or Mazda B4000 4x4

As far as I recall the B2 2WD still used a 4WD transmission and an empty transfer case for extra weight down low, so speedometer cable would not be an issue as its on the transfer case
But if you have a true 2WD then you can use 1990-1997 M5OD-R1 from 2WD 4.0l Ranger or Mazda B4000 2wd, they still had the speedometer hook up


Also change to 4.0l flywheel and clutch, not required just a better setup

I think your current transmission is a FM145 5 Speed
