B2 REAL oil pressure

does anyone know what the real oil pressure should be on a B2? I have a 1987 Ford Bronco/Ranger shop manual and cannot find anything in it about what the oil pressure, at hot idle and hot, running down the road at 60 mph.

For example, mine has 140K, runs good, uses no oil, no leaks, but has 40 -45 lbs at 60 mph. at hot idle, in gear, has 10 lbs. this seems a tad low to me. what do you guys think? Thanks to all.

I had a 4.0 in my BII and had about 50-60 running down the road and about 40 at idle

Your numbers sound a bit low, but not too bad. Idle should be around 15, at speed should be around 50-60, but its not a huge issue until you get below 40.

thanks for the responses. If I thought a set of mains and rod bearings would cure the problem (low oil pressure) I would go for it. How much more complicated would it be to change cam bearings also? thanks again.

A full bearing set would be a good start, and oil pump would be advisable while you are in there.

The cam bearings are actually probably more important in this case, just because the cam bearings are something of a weak point in the 2.9's lube system.
