so a friend of mine is looking for a bronco 2, he wants to chop the top and have a "Removeable" hardtop, he doesnt want a soft top, so anyone got any ideas on how to make one with a removeable hard top like a jeep would have? if you have pics id like to see so i can show him:icon_welder::icon_hornsup:

IIRC there used to be a detailed explaination of how to do a removable hardtop out of the existing top in the Tech Archive on here, not sure if it's still there though. I'd go look but I'll have to do that later.

IMHO, I'd just chop the top and do a softtop. I had thought about doing a removeable hard top on my choptop, and I thought of doing a full softtop, but I think I'm gonna rig up a softtop like a jeep windjammer and a bed cover. That look is growing on me in a real hurry.

I considered cutting down a full size bronco top at one point but it would be a TON of work. It would have to be sectioned in the width, length and height but it would be one of a kind. Who knows maybe someday I'll get done with all my projects (yeah right!) and get another b2 and do it.

i think it would be alot easier to just weld some flat edges to the bottom of the b2 roof and body.

rather than take a full size bronco top and make it fit, its going to be alot of work, youll have to re angle the front, cut down the middle, and who knows about the height. then you will have to get custom windows or make some with plastic. its also fiberglass so you cant just weld it.

This is EXACTLY what I planned on doing someday.

I even did a photoshop of it on my BII and fell in love.

Now if I could fall into time to do it

It would be kick ass. I was thinking I would find a bronco in the junkyard that I would cut all the metal off where the roof mounts to and graft it into the b2 body. It would be a hell of a lot of work but would be cool as hell. Someday.
