Axle Tag decoding help!!

SO, on the stock 7.5 rear axle on my 88 bronco II, i cant figure out the code on the axle tag that is on one of the bolts holding the diff. cover on. It reads: A 6050...that is on the top left ........3SL7375 8B19 is on the bottom...i tried reading random things on the wed, and in the lmc catalog and i cannot figure it out...any help guys?

ok, so i did read the door and it says D4 for axle...i think it is the limited slip with 3.73 gears....that is good and bad i guess...i was told it was 4.10 gearing, but at least it is the limited slip!! What does all that other stuff mean on the axle tag?

also, if the rear has a factory limited slip, does that mean the front does too?

You'll have to read the front diff tag to know if it has a front LS.

Chances are your factory LS in the back is shot, they are clutch-based and only last so long before they start operating like an open.

Your axle code would be different if you had a LS up front. I believe it would say d42...
They are also extremely rare, only a few have been spotted over the years, and they were only installed for like 2 years in the 80s.

if i remember correctly, "3SL7375" take the SL and put a decimal in there 3.7375 and 75 is 7.5, and the SL means limited slip, so that number means 3.73 7.5" L/S

but it's been a while, so i could be wrong...

and yeah, surrey's right, you probably don't have slip any more, if you rebuild it, you can flip the clutches around and re-order them, that will give way more bite, and even with worn clutches, you can often get more bite than factory...

The best info is right up in the tech library at this site. Explantion of the other numbers you found, Above info is all good (most of it), very few came with the L/S up front.

Honestly Im surprised you could even read it. The tags on my old truck (havn't checked the new one) are so corroded they are just flat rusty metal strips now...
