So what issues am I going to have from swapping a rear ends? I need a new rear end for my '91 Ranger. Finding something that is a direct swap is tough to find within a reasonable distance.

I know where I can pick up a 96 Explorer Sport. It would be a nice upgrade from drums to disc and have a slightly heavier duty axle.

Can it be done pray tell? Or is it going to be such a hassle that it won't be worth it.

It can and has been done many of times, including myself several times. You will need the axle, leaf springs (explorer springs are stronger providing they are the multileaf and not the monoleaf), e-brake cables, rubber brake line that attaches from frame to axle, and you will need the brake master cylinder. There most likely will be a plug on the MC that you will not use, just leave the sensor there. You will also need to flip the spring perch on the axle. I highly suggest buying another pair and leaving the ones on the axle there, they make a good jacking point if you ever need to jack up the vehicle...swap is straight forward, leafs bolt right in. You will have to re-adjust your e-brake cables as one side is longer than the other....

See!! This is why I am here. You guys rock!

Mac I will do a bit more searching in the tech library. Very nice thank you much!

SVT you just gave me reason to not fear! GREAT idea about leaving the spring pearch for a jacking point.
