i recently pretty much rebuilt the front end in my 95 4x4 with the dana 35. The axle shaft bearings an seals were shot so i bought 2 sk4 kits which came with bearings an axle shaft seals. put them in repacked wheel bearings an put inner wheel bearing seals in an also replaced the 3 u joints. when ever i hit a bump or any little uneven surface i get a nice clank clank.. rattle i got under an could move my axle shaft seems like its not "snung". but every thing is done correct. a few days before i did this i had to do it to my dads explorer an his was making the SAME noise an noce i put new u joints i went away.. any ideal on what could be messed up? :icon_confused:

What kind of shape are the pivot bushings in where your axle beam mounts to the suspension brackets? What about the bushings where the radius arms mount at the fram end?

Sometimes a banging noise could be coming from a wornout suspension bushing.

the radius arm bushings are in good shape as well as the axle pivot bushing.

Was it making this noise before you worked on it?

mine made that noise, it was the inner fender well loose. check that

when i first got the truck it wasn't.. then 2 years later is when it started making the noise.. the inner spindle bearings were SHOT.. so i replaced them an got new seals, new u joints an all that good stuff. iam almost POSTIVIE its the axle shafts.. but i dont understand why their "loose" around the spindle bearing which is where i think the sound is coming from..

mine did the same thing when i got it, the person i got it from forgot to put the c clip back on the outer end of the axle shaft

ive got a c clip installed.. its driving me NUTS cuz i cant figure out what it is.. have to keep messin with it i suppose

I don't use the c-clips. I have to replace my spindle bearings alot, but it doesn't rattle when they are wasted, though it is loose. Maybe yours are shot again. Or the bushings in your lockouts could be worn out.
