Okay so I have ALOT of .avi video files on my computer, and I was wondering if there is any free, non watermarked, programs that I can use to burn them for playback on a regular DVD player?

So far I've tried the Roxio MyDVD9 that came with my computer, but it has that queer menu that you can't change the background on, and if there has to be a menu, I would rather it be one I can edit, or just blank. I used to use one called AVI DVD burner back when it would give you three free trials for each download of it, but they stopped doing that.. now its watermarked. So does anyone on here have any ideas?

I've tried searching.. but I can't seem to find anything.

Maybe I don't understand what you are trying to do, but won't Windows Movie Maker put .AVI's onto a DVD?

Like I said though, maybe I don't get what you are doing..

All that I could get windows movie maker to do was put an avi on a regular cd for playback on my computer.. it wouldn't let me put it onto a DVD. And even if it could, it needs to be converted to DVD format for playback on a regular home DVD player.

An AVI-ISO converter would also work.. but I can't find one of them either.

Some dvd burners only allow certain formats to be ripped. And mostly defenitly, un-copyrighted.

I tried for a long time to do exactly that. Burn a DVD that would play in any player using .avi files. I never managed to find any software that would do it. To do it you need to convert the .avi into .cue & a .bin but I don't think it can be done.

$50.00 will buy you a DVD player that will read avi's and divx, get one of those and then just burn the DVD's as data discs.

That's what I did.

Try handbrake. A free program to convert vid files. It's free, so if it doesn't work, no loss.

I've tried this many times. If you're plannig on a functional start menu and chapters you'll ned the VOB file. I think.

Not sure of any free ones, but Nero that came w/ my DVD burner will allow DVDs to be built with absolutely no menu at all (just put it in and it plays). Does all of the re-encoding on the fly, it's absolutely painless software. You probably know someone with an OEM cd that came w/ a burner that you could probably borrow.

I would image the Roxio (been a long time since I used that POS software), would have something similar, but I am not sure. I would look a little harder, options like that are usually not as visible to keep from obsfucating the GUI.

Most of the free Windows software I've tried claims it can do one thing, but typically bails with an error when attempting (you get what you pay for except software for Linux).

Roxio lets you do it, but you have to have this stupid menue screen with trees and crappy music. I think I have Nero on my other computer, but no dvd burner on that one. Maybe I could try transferring it over the network... not sure though.
