shifts hard into reverse every morning shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. slips only when you try to take off hard on a turn or if you go in drive to soon after backing up. overheated tranny 2 weeks ago when i towed a 14ft boat 20 miles. dont understand why it overheated....

took it to shop for a tranny service last week, no metal found did a tranny flush, and oil was a little burnt. it didnt help shifting.

could it be my torque converter going out? or my vacuum modulator? or something else? please help im drawing blanks

Overheating can happen if water in radiator is low to where the cooler is exposed inside the radiator and you will not see the temperature gauge show anything as far as over heating. The cooler in rad could also be restricted some way.

Shifting hard could possibly be the vacuum modulator being bad and or the vacuum line from engine to tanny bad.

Slipping on a turn could be the result of low fluid in transmission, you need to check the fluid level running in park.

Hopes this helps

thank you

well my cooling level is all the way up to the cap. cooling flush was done 2 months ago. and the tranny fluid level is righ to the top of the crosshatches.

any other ideas?

about the overheating i told a mechanic and he checked for the heat shield around the catalytic converter. it was there so either way i got a peice of aluminum shaped it and wraped it around the catalytic converter .

got too dark right now so ill check for the vacuum line tomorrow.

Were you towing in overdrive? If so, that would explain the overheating. Never tow in overdrive.

really? i was in overdrive. how come it would over heat??

i tried looking for the vacuum but I could not Find it. can anyone explain a little better where to find it?
