auto zone trans

I am going to buy a Manual trans for my 93 2wd 4.0L ranger and they need to know if i have a md-50??? or a moser. How do I tell which one it is, the tag on the side of trans reads F27A, YA, A953102 and there is a M stamped in the top rear drivers side on a machined surface. The spedo gear is black and has 20 teeth.

i dont know about the moser part but thats what they asked me for if I had the m50d-r1 or the moser, so that will help thanks

I would not buy anything off of someone who asks you if you have something other than a M5OD in a 93 4.0 Ranger. That is the only transmission that came with your truck. If you are buying it from Autozone then i'm sure you could do alot better on the price because their engines and transmissions are usually overpriced.

rebuilt trannys (like what you get at autozoo and oreillys) are 500 on ebay after core, im going to the pick and pull and picking one up for 158 after core.

Unless they lowered their prices i'm pretty sure it was like 800. I know their rebuild kits with synchros are like around 500. What a ripoff.

depends on the tranny the rebuild for my 2.3 m50d if it has 36 synchro teeth takes a 420 dollar rebuild kit if it doesnt have 36 teeth it takes the 260 dollar rebuild kit. this is for a 92, dont know why the dif just fig it was a ford thing, but since i have 3 broken gears im going to get another tranny for 158 after core at the picknpull. the one for my 3.0 that i need to acquire requires the 420 dollar kit. not sure on the 4.0.

the pull and save here in spokane charges 55 dollars for a tranny manual or auto and a 90 day warrenty .
