Auto Stop Eliminator for the 2019 Ranger

On our 2019 Ranger, if you plug your cell phone charger into a power port the auto start/stop is disabled.

Some folks are buying cheap night lights and plugging them into the power port, which they say also will disable the auto start/stop.

I just hit the button... if I forget the starter cranking at my next stop reminds.

I just noticed this the other day and didn't put 2+2 together. Just that the Auto Start/Stop wasn't operating. I normally just use the bluetooth connection and a cigarette power cord. I might need to use the USB more...

Ummm what is the reasoning for ford designing the system to be disabled if you're charging your phone? :icon_confused:

Because the USB isn't powered when the vehicle is off. At least not for long. I've noticed that with the cigarette lighters as well. They are not hot all the time.

Wow... that's... incredibly stupid. :icon_rofl:

Instead of just making the power points always active they had do design the start/stop system around charging your phone. ?

Sounds like normal corporate thinking to me. "How can we solve _______ problem the least expensive way possible?"

Which makes sense. Otherwise folks will leave something in the power port... and run the battery down.

There are a myriad of scenarios where the auto stop/start is disabled... such as if the air conditioning and heat are on max, towing, etc.

Your phone is more important than anything else. After all, what would you have to do while driving if your phone was not charged? Imagine missing the latest live stream, snap chat or tweet?

Cars worked fine for decades with full time power cigarette lighter ports. My ranger's power ports are both live all the time. Did people suddenly just get too stupid to use a power outlet? :icon_confused:

I've never driven a vehicle with this system, or studied how it works. Are there electric pumps for oil and coolant? A lot of engine wear occurs during start up when oil films are thin - rod bearings punch through for metal-to-metal contact, etc. Maybe it's fine for 3-year lease dispose-a-cars, but I would really not want it on a car I planned to keep long term.

Yes

I try to avoid interacting with society at all costs...

That's the problem...all the smart people don't interact with society. So naturally the society IQ goes downhill. Its truly a smart person causing the problems.
Dirtman...get out and mingle...bring up the collective IQ please!
I can handle some chowder and furnace visits for the good of mankind.

Eh, eventually society will crumble and I will take my rightful place as supreme ruler of the world...

There are people out there that would kill their battery because they don't understand that things plugged into the cigarette lighter or USB would drain power from the battery. It's sad to say but there are people like that.
