Audio geek? I got a summer project you may want to watch!

nonthing wrong with buying used drivers. you just have to be picky. ive made a used gear purchases. one was a pair of oldschool soundstream 8's. another was a set of dls ms6a components. both sellers were some big audiophiles and the gear was in mint condition. they both agreed that the gear would not be DOA.
i dont care if i was buying them of Tempe himself I would never purchase them used. I'd take them for free but I'd never buy em. I like nice pristine equipment virtually no distortion.

I'm a huge fan of dirt cheap equipment in my truck. Leaves more money in my pocket for funsies. Besides.... my everyday driver is loaded with toys.

i see where rjp is coming from... it's comparable to buying used shoes... the used shoes are gonna be molded from other people's weight pushing on the cushions inside.. and are not going to feel the best to somebody else.

i'm sure everytime a speaker gets used it probably slowly degrades.

Installing the Head Unit Part 1

Supplies:
Ratchet set w/ a 9/32 socket
Box cutter
files
Dremel with cutting edge and sanding edge
Pioneer AVIC-F700BT (or a double DIN HU)
metra 95-5600 dash kit
flat head screw driver

P4120112.jpg

Using a 9/32 socket, unscrew the the two bolts holding in the dash piece

P4120113.jpg

Disconnect the 12volt plugs and cruise control (use a small flat head screw driver to remove the plug)

P4120114.jpg

to give yourself some room, remove the air duct ply gently popping the clips that hold it in place.

P4120115.jpg

Using a dremel cut/sand away the upper and lower lips but keep the sides intact. Use a file and the box cutter to finish the edges.

P4120119.jpg

cut off the small nub to allow the dash kit to mount flush.

P4120117.jpg

Mount the front trim piece.

P4120120.jpg

attach the left and right slots by hooking the tabs into the sockets inside the trim piece

P4120121.jpg

Slide the dash over your head unit and screw in the slots.

And you have successfully mounted your AVIC-F700BT to your dash!!! You can run a bead of silicon behind the dash to close the small gaps or you can leave it as is.

part 1 looks pretty good damn, nice HU, looked it up.

anyway, try and get some more clear pictures, a few of them are great, but a few of them are really blurry.

looks like a good beginning mod for somebody to tackle, as it's not too difficult.

okay so the headunit I bought that was DOA just came back from the factory like a week ago and my student loans came through so my project is back online. I've been without a radio for months now... Time to order cables

Mine has been gone for over a year.... I know how you feel.
But that should all be different soon. Like you, all I need is cables, wires, and connectors.
Keep the posts coming!

anyone ever put together a good set of dimensions for the extended cab? I plan on starting and finishing the project on the 15th and it'd be handy to have in advance.
