Not sure if I should post here or in the transfer cases section. But I am looking for advice about your rear driveshaft. Help me get a better understanding for what I will be up against. Post some pics of your driveline angles, problems you've had, and what you have done to fix them. Even if you're sas or have strechted your wheelbase.
 
I will get some for you this evening after work. You need pictures of anything else while I'm under there?

D.D. Machine doubler, rear axle (8.8") pushed back 3", M5OD transmission, driveshaft length 27" exactly (flange-flange), suspension lift approx 4".

Driveshaft started out as the front shaft from an Explorer, and is cut right around 6½" shorter.

i got a rear drive shaft from a 92 explorer. i cut the rear flange off, then cut the tube down and welded the flange back on...if you need measurements i could get them for you.
 
Mine is stock wheel base, 7" of lift in the rear with a Tom Woods shaft. Its somewhere around 25" long and the pinion is close to 20 degrees.

Note in the picture that this is now my SPARE driveshaft. That pic is of the driveshaft for 4" of lift. Once I added the SAS and picked up the rear 3 more inches, it was too short. Still works as a spare though.

When I had a 4" lift on the truck, the standard two joint shaft wouldnt work. Way to much angle and the ears would touch during normal driving. But with the short double cardan shaft, I have had no issues or vibrations etc. Totally happy with it!

Here is the 4" lift with the 2 joint shaft for comparison.

Absolutely, if you don't want any vibration while on the freeway.

I see a rock had it in for your muffler too BQ (BTDT lol).
 
Junkie...Actually, an embarassing jack-stand incident when doing the SAS. So to save face, yup... a big ol rock hit my muffler! :icon_rofl:
 
lol, OK, nevermind then :icon_rofl:

I had a rock get kicked right up under there up on Dusy one year and the end result was literally identical to what yours looks like. About 1000 miles later, the muffler literally blew itself wide open. You'll notice the new one is tucked a little ways up under a nice skidplate this time. :D
 
I'm not running a double cardigan (?) on my rear ds n I can run down I-40 all day without any vibes but then again I don't have any lift either.

SBSRLewis... Its because of no lift. My 4" lift was binding to 2 joint shaft on regular road use. I cant imagine what it would of been like flexed out! :bawling:

Thats ok though! I love my Tom Woods drivelines, tough and have great customer service!
