ATL/Southeast Shows & Meets

It was a bust here too. Weather was about the same down here. Mower stayed parked because it was too wet.

Well, it rained on and off here, too. But I was at work and I had all indoor projects today. It didn't rain enough to infiltrate most of our roof leaks.

I guess Mother Nature decided it is your turn for the rain. We've been pretty dry up here, and the temperatures finally settled down to a fairly normal level. Though it is a bit on a the low side for normal. Not that I'm complaining. I was getting tired of being on slow bake.

I went with the cute little brunette to the Choate “cars and Q“ cystic fibrosis fundraiser car truck show yesterday. Choate is a high-end general contractor that does everything from prisons to hospitals to car dealerships to whatever. They were contractor on some of the jobs I ran for customers. Several guys in the upper management are very serious high-end car collectors.

Old and new Broncos were very well represented. I think there were only two that were kind of stock, and some of the very old ones, in the middle, and the new ones, probably had more money and modification on upgrades than the things cost in the first place. Except for mine, everything was showroom or even better than showroom. Mine remains the big curiosity.

The Packard and the shark nose 1930s thing were both valued at well over $1.5 million each.

Then there were a slew of Porsches, Mercedes, Corvettes, some other muscle cars, and a 25 or 35 pristine motorcycles, mostly vintage.

The barbecue was to die for, and they raised $751,000 between the show and the sponsors and contributors, etc. Not too bad. They do this every year, so let me know if you’re interested. I don’t think it it’s just advertised to the public, but I know anybody can go if they buy a ticket.

I’ve been quiet for a while because the Road Ranger has been sick, and me too. Hopefully we’re both back, so I’m calling out to everybody in the area to show up at the Kennesaw mall for Caffeine & Octane on Sunday, April 12. It’s usually the first Sunday, but they bumped it a week because of the whole Christ rising from the dead thing.

I hope to make it every first of the month Sunday except for Carlisle Ford Nationals. I’ll be on the far right of the food court in the center section, by the food trucks in the port-a-potties (I’m appropriately somewhere between those two), and I want to see each and every one of you there.

Big things to come this season, i’m trying to coordinate a couple of other great truck shows between here and Chattanooga and Charlotte.

& Don’t hot rod and run up the gas if you’re coming, the police are everywhere. Good guys, trying to keep the peace.
