I went with the cute little brunette to the Choate “cars and Q“ cystic fibrosis fundraiser car truck show yesterday. Choate is a high-end general contractor that does everything from prisons to hospitals to car dealerships to whatever. They were contractor on some of the jobs I ran for customers. Several guys in the upper management are very serious high-end car collectors.
Old and new Broncos were very well represented. I think there were only two that were kind of stock, and some of the very old ones, in the middle, and the new ones, probably had more money and modification on upgrades than the things cost in the first place. Except for mine, everything was showroom or even better than showroom. Mine remains the big curiosity.
The Packard and the shark nose 1930s thing were both valued at well over $1.5 million each.
Then there were a slew of Porsches, Mercedes, Corvettes, some other muscle cars, and a 25 or 35 pristine motorcycles, mostly vintage.
The barbecue was to die for, and they raised $751,000 between the show and the sponsors and contributors, etc. Not too bad. They do this every year, so let me know if you’re interested. I don’t think it it’s just advertised to the public, but I know anybody can go if they buy a ticket.
