Never put off ‘til tomorrow what you can put off indefinitely
I’m planning to go to “caffeine and octane“ at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw, Georgia (NE ATL) on Sunday morning (7:00AM - Noon). They claim to be the biggest monthly car show in the southeast (400-600 cars/trucks). Weather is supposed to be perfect. I haven’t been in a while, not since they were hosting it at Perimeter Mall, but I plan on going monthly from now on if I can. I’m not reserving a space this time, I am just going to be in general parking to check it out.

Two Things:

First, if anybody would like to join me, I would be happy to be a central point of contact to coordinate. This is NOT an official TRS event.

Second, I’m interested to learn about other good shows, especially for trucks, in striking distance of Atlanta (1-200 miles). Let me & everybody know, please & thanks.

Let me emphasize again, caffeine and octane is early Sunday morning until noon time only. Then they run everybody off when the mall opens.

I wish I was closer to you... sounds like fun

we don't have any car/truck meets in my town anymore. they used to, and it was awesome.

nearest to me is 2.5 hours and not on the weekend :(

Why do they do those things in Sundays????

I don’t know whoever had the idea, but it’s not like you have a lot of schedule conflicts, and it has been wildly successful for years and years

Church? We ARE in the Bible Belt, after all.

Church? We ARE in the Bible Belt, after all.

I’m Catholic, we have 10 choices every weekend. But now I have to confess that, because I usually go to Charles Stanley’s first Baptist.

The heathens have that day open and others use it as an excuse NOT to go to church.

OK, I’ll put you two guys down as a “maybe.“

I actually go to Kennesaw a lot, just not this weekend. Daughter has Prom this weekend and I have a 17 yo kid to intimidate.

I was there, 20 years ago.

Size the guy up, and if you like him, let him know you’re watching and you expect him to be respectful.

If you don’t like him, shake his hand and smile, pat him on the back, and wish him luck. Then, when he’s not in front of you, tell your daughter you think he’s great.

If she’s like every other teenage girl I know, she’ll drop him in a heartbeat.

I hear cleaning a shotgun on the front porch when they arrive works pretty good.

Can't say from experience, I was just friends with my prom date and was well enough known to her family that they weren't worried about it. Not that them making a threat would have worked well on me anyway.

Soooo, C&O officially runs 9 AM until noon. Lincoln and I got there at eight, and we almost couldn’t get a parking spot. They put me in the Classics section because the main section was already full. It rained right around dawn, and the guys in charge were thinking that’s why the turnout was so poor, only like 1000 cars.

It’s surprises me, just like the Road Ranger, how much attention the silly little thing gets. I felt a little guilty, because, in my opinion, there were nicer trucks and cars all around me, but most of it was stuff you’ve seen before. Nobody’s ever seen something like this.

The trailer got an equal amount of interest, which also surprises me

Unfortunately, while I was driving there, I ran over what I think was a dresser drawer sitting on the interstate. The truck kind of just crushed it, but the trailer bounced a foot in the air. I think one of the boards tilted up, and the trailer pivoted off it. Anyway, when I got home and I checked, half the trailer lights weren’t working. More fun.

The show is amazing. There were three of the monster trucks like compete in the stadiums. There was 1000 hp Honda CRX a couple spots down from me. And everything else you could possibly imagine.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get around much because it’s one of those days when my legs are not cooperating. I did wander over to a food truck near me and got a $21 hamburger and fries, and a cup of water for Lincoln.

I’ll be going back next month if anybody wants to join me, but I’m planning on arriving at seven instead of eight next time. And I’ll have more pictures next time.

Caffeine and octane in Kennesaw. I just got here about 30 minutes ago, but legs are working better today, I’ll try to get some pictures.
