well today i made the choice to go in and appy, and filled out the paperwork and tomarrow is my drug test. word is if all is kosher i could look to be starting as early as next week.

im still working at my current job but i will no longer put up with the BS and stress.

when should i tell them im near quitting...part of me wants to say **** em and quit today but i know i must wait to hear from roush.

this could be a good step towards a better career later in life with the weight the company carries in the business world.

wish me luck guys i'll provide updates daily.

I would not just tell you current employer to "piss off" even if you are offered a job at Roush. I find that unless they really really want you to start right away, if they ask you when you can start, it's best to say something like "let me give my current employer a week's notice or so" (in PA it's 2 or they can hold you last check).

Got my wished luck. Although with my track record of luck it may cause more harm than good.

Good luck with the (potential) new job!!
My experience is that a "would be" employer would prefer you to put in a two weeks because they would hope for you to show the same respect or courtesy towards them. I think most "would be" employers understand if you ask them up front if you can put in a two weeks notice at your current job. That's what I asked during my interview at my current job and they said that's what they prefer to hear, in fact it's one of the reasons I did get the job. Some places that are employee friendly and people driven I think like that attitude over the "screw em, I quit" attitude.
Definitely ask when they call back. If they tell you or give you the idea that they expected you to start before then, I'd say that's a judgement call only you can make. Is it worth it to possibly burn a bridge with the previous employer for the new job?
Either way... Good luck.

il be giving my one weeks tonight

heres mn word on that

Does my employer have to give me two-weeks notice before terminating me? Do I have to give them two-weeks notice?
No notice of separation is required by law, by either party, upon separation of an employee for any reason. Courtesy and time to collect accrued benefits are reasons why notice is given.

the impression i got was they want to get me going soon as they could, il ask when i get the call for the drug test tomarrow

the way the company has treated me burning the bridge seems a small loss. if any.

this is good advice. when i switched jobs about 4 months ago they were really happy that i wanted to give my 2 weeks. theres always a chance that they start treating you like crap (if they dont already) and at that point i think it would be fair to tell them to shove it. or maybe they tell you dont bother with your 2 weeks, pack up and leave now haha, that wouldn t be so bad either. normally the new employer is willing to wait or can take you the next day.

oh, good luck!!

Check your state laws. In my state once you've submitted your two weeks notice in writing they're required to still give you two weeks worth of work and if they let you go on the spot, they're required to give you two weeks pay.

I only had to learn that lesson the hard way one time...

Where the heck in MN is there a Roush Industries plant or building!!? We never have cool things here like that!

You mean Roush Industries in Lovonia, MI? If so, could be a dream for most of us. I gave the place I retired from almost five months notice, just so I could train someone for the job. Off for a month and they wanted me back for another five months. The guy who did my upgrade on my Roush out there to the forged motor and bigger blower is not doing that anymore. They moved him up to doing the custom rebuilds. When I was there they had a '63' Galaxie convt. they put a 511 ci in, couple of Cobra kit cars and a couple of Z-28. Good luck with it!
