The truck is a 95 2.3L 2wd. 110,000 miles. I just recently started having this problem. I started the truck up one night and let it sit and idle and after about 3 minutes of idle the truck started running real rough and then died when I tried to give it gas. I never had problems like this before. I had already changed the fuel filter, pcv valve, plugs, and wires. I put the code reader on it and it comes back as a P0171 code, lean bank 1. I cleaned the IAC and the MAF. Do you guys think that I may need to replace the EGR valve or the one that controls it? Please help ASAP. Thanks.

sounds like a possible vaccum leak to me also check all of your air duct hose and make sure none of them are loose. check the hoses that go from the pressure feedback sensor that is toward the top of the firewall down to the pipe that goes to the egr valve that was the problem with mine and i got the same code

i have a 2.3L that was doing the same thing -we changed iac,tps and O2 sensor now runs fine

I still havn't got this thing figured out. I replaced the o2 sensor and it didnt change anything. I want to replace the IAC but wanted to ask a question first. When it starts to run rough, I give it gas and it just hesitates. When I floor it you can hear it back firing somewhere in the engine area. If I keep it floored it takes it about 10-15 seconds before it starts to actually raise the RPM's. Can this still be the IAC?

It's funny you should ask. I went and rented a fuel pressure test kit and found that the pressure was only 10 psi. Well I replaced the fuel pump and it runs perfect now. Wish I would have got off my lazy butt and did that the first time. Haha.
