:attention_whore: Move over bub !!! It's getting crowded in here. :icon_rofl: Mine's carbed but runs like it's got EFI. It's all in the cam and ignition (and a smallish sized carb)

i was the only one carb'd when i made that comment lol.

on both my engines, well the ranger dont count right now.

but on my other v8's i run an edelbrock 1406 600cfm carb.

i love it. it starts like fuel injection in the morning. gives respectable performance. and gives decent mileage. and there ready to run out of the box. but i tune mine just to makes sure.

love the smell of a carb'd engine first starting in the morning. ahhh

I love injection, hope to never have to tune my own carb. again...Mike

The seventies called, they want their T-shirt back, lol! Uh, okay.... We're dealing with old Mustang setups that cost $200 for every EFI piece, so that's much cheaper than a new Holley...
I think costs work out equal in most cases, simply a preference.

Sorry...I was referring to new vehicles & Aftermarket EFI...(I do all my Christmas shopping at Pik-A-Part)

Now I know where to get extra cash when I need it.......................:icon_rofl:

Thanks....I needed that.....:icon_rofl: X's 10......I'd be proud to hep yu get started----I got a empty shoe box & i can sneak $2 outta my wife's purse.....a dollar at a time just to be safe.

the next time i drop her off at evangeline downs....i'll run the box by your villa

Mine runs like EFI, but without a choke. Tuning? that takes all of 5 minutes with a Holley. Most of that time is spent checking and setting the ignition timing.

Injected 331 in the Ranger. G.M. T.B.I. to be exact. Best of both worlds. EFI performance, and beat on it with a rock carb. simplicity. Plus, IF the TBI dumps, simply pull off the plate, toss on the carb, turn down the fuel pressure and hit it again. Trail and (ugh) street ride, once it gets done.

thats all an edelbrock takes.

i dont need the choke. but i like to have it ya know what im saying.

when its 25 degrees out. a choke comes in handy.

25*F ? Still no choke needed on mine. I started it two years ago one morning when it was that low. Never touched the go pedal, cranked for about 10 seconds and it fired off and idled on it's own. Was it set too rich? Nope. Those same spark plugs are still doing the job, looking like they're still off the shelf when I checked em two weeks ago. I really think the EFI cam grind makes all the difference in the world

got pics of that plate? Or of the whole setup? I've toyed with that setup for a couple years now. I like the idea of efi on my 85...

My 5.0 is injected, after reading and chasing wires to learn whats what it is really simple in the end. I ended up removing wires as I had installed to many to get the wiring completed. I have two carbed old cars one with a 4160 on a sbc and a stage 3 jet performance Q-jet on a bbo.... I loved the F/I just crank and vavoom and reliable..... I am looking into a F/I for the bbo engine......

The TBI plate I got from Jegs' a couple of years ago. It simply bolts down on your 4BBL intake, while centering the TBI so that it "fires" into all of the runners. I think it is a Transdapt piece. I am using the 7747 computer, as it is the easiest to wire as a "stand alone". I had to connect like 4-5 wires, and splice into the wiring harness for the fuelpump and relays, connect the fuel lines and pretty much hit it and go. I got the info from a GM TBI site. I will try to get some pix, as I need to update my build (again).
