Is the driver's side axle housing from a 92-94 Explorer d35 the same as what's under my 1996 Ranger with a d35? When I search on car-parts.com they don't seem to interchange.

If you are searching car-part they probably won't appear to interchange because it will look at the whole axle. The pumpking never changes unless you have a hybrid unit.

The outers changed in 95 for the better brakes.

Thanks. BTW, car-parts.com did seem to break it down to the axle housing parts themselves.

I'm trying to do a 35/44 hybrid. I took too much out of the lower ball joint hole trying to get it to work with a set of Moog ball joints that wouldn't fit quite right.

Your '96 beam is going to be a little different. I dont know the exact difference, but it has to do with the adjustable steering stop on the newer axles. They are interchangeable.

I'm going down to the parts store to compare them. They want $125 for the the 1996 ranger housing, $75 for the 92-94 explorer one.
