Are the 86 and 87 A4LD the same?

My 87 A4LD is showing alot of particulates and clunking just after takeoff so i'm looking for another tranny.Found a guy parting out an 86 and need to know if these trans will swap across without having to change anything,or if it does what needs to be swapped over?Thanks

Yeah they are the same as long as same engine and 4x2/4x4 .
