Are K&N air filters economically justifiable?

I would like to ask all those that have used the K&N washable elements, what kind of performance improvements have YOU seen, and is it worth the cost?

If I get a new Ranger, I will be planning to keep it for years, and my question is will a K&N be a smart move? Also if I do get this new truck, what other aftermarket upgrades can I get that will pay off in the long run?

Now I know on old trucks like my '87 a K&N probably is out of the question as the truck will probably be worn out well before the filter outlives it's usefulness.

Here we go again.......

That being said, I've used the same filter for 100,000 miles and HAD to clean it about 3 times. After a while they get so full of junk they just don't flow. But I hate jacking around with cleaning them so I'd rather just pay a little extra for the paper ones if they made paper ones that clamp on the end of a pipe. But they don't so I am stuck using a K&N.

it would be if you had the money to waste cleaning the oil out of your intake tube and maf..:icon_confused:why would someone want one exept to look like a rice burnner:icon_surprised:

this better not turn into another huge pointless argument.

We're not going through this again. There has been enough threads on K&N's to gather your info from. Use the search button.
