My credo
Smog is for pussies.
Are solid 4.0 mounts from DEA or Anchor worth installing? I have the engine out ant the stock mounts are OK. However, they are 26 years and 160k miles old so I don't exactly feel comfortable not changing them.

I've used anchor mounts before on several vehicles and never had a problem. They always seemed OEM quality. This was years ago and the quality from many previously good companies has dropped significantly though (Like Moog).

I've tried to use Anchor mounts on 3 different vehicle without luck. The hole to mount them to a 302 or 351 are mislocated so the mount butts up against the block and the bolts won't go in.

I just used 2x Anchor motor mounts, a transmission mount and a carrier bearing, 1992 Ranger application. Seemed to be decent quality.

Dunno about you guys but I have yet to see a broken motor mount on a V6 Ranger. The OEM ones are pretty stout. 4 cylinder, not so much.

I think that's a somewhat inherent problem to alot of inline engines. I've replaced more engines mounts on straight sixes and 4s than anything else.
