Please be here for me guys. I just bought 94 ranger ext cab 2.3 5spd for a dollar. I'm tryin' to learb how to drive a stick in this truck. The truck has 230k on the odo almost and the steering and the shifter is sloppy as h***. if any pf you are close and could stand a free case of beer, wpuld ypu please get up with me and tell me of you can look at my truck. Please and thanks and all that good stuff.

There are a few people up there. I myself am only about 30 minutes away but I'm not the.best mechanic

I live way too far to make that trip but to fix your loose shifter you need this kit: 1994 FORD RANGER 2.3L L4 SOHC : Transmission-Manual : Shifter Repair Kit DORMAN Part # 917551

You can get it for less than $12 from RockAuto

Takes about a half hour to change. If you need help let me know I will walk you through it after you get the kit.

A dollar? Wow, beats going to McDonalds for their dollar menu.

Ok, part numbers are good too. Thanks man. and yes to hell with mcdonalds. $1 Ranger FTW

On your steering you probably will need to replace the ball joints, pivot bushings, radius arm bushings, and possibly some tie rod ends. Check to see if the pitman arm is lose on the shaft. Grab things and start looking for slop. Also check your front wheel bearings and seals while you are going over the front end.

None of this stuff is too hard to change out as long as you have a good jack, basic hand tools up to 32 MM, and an acetylene torch. A couple big hammers help also.

No 32 and no torch :'( oh and I can tell from my whole $1 purchase that rust indeed never sleeps. Thanks for the info. Ranger peeps are the best peeps

HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT!!!! $825 later an the front end ain't gonna fall out from under my truck. Tie rods, PS Tire rod end, Trailing arm bushings, PS Trailing arm bracket and some shiny new haardware and a front wheel alignment. How ever... There is still a good inch of play in the wheel.:bawling:
