does the aod transmission the one that say metric on pan need any special wiring:icon_confused:

The AOD is mechanical. You just need to tune the throttle cable. Too little pressure will burn your trans up in a hurry.

look for an 88 or newer aod. These have a tailhousing that lubricates better so you can run gears greater than 3.55:1. Also, be aware of the overdrive servo. Look for a model with a larger servo such as one from a mustang or pickup.

Make sure you get an AOD and not an AODE which is electronic.

To solve the throttle position, your best bet is to put in a constant pressure valve body, which will make it shift better too, and then you can set the kickdown anywhere you wish without burning the AOD up.

I would prefer the AOD-E for its strength and reliability over the AOD. Pick up an electronic shift control for it.

The constant pressure valvebodies are okay, but its kind of a cheap fix. Too harsh of shifts under light throttle and/or soft shift under full throttle. The lentech valve bodies use different circuits for a stronger 3rd gear and allow manual control. They also have a solenoid that can be powered externally to keep the trans out of overdrive.

what exacily is a constant pressure valve body?:icon_confused: THANKS!

A valve body with a fixed line pressure. Where the factory valve body varies the line pressure in relationship to the throttle position (Throttle valve cable) so that the transmission shifts softer during light throttle and harder during heavy throttle, the fixed valve body will eliminate the TV cable and apply a fixed hydraulic pressure to the shifting mechanisms whether you are shifting under 10% throttle or 100%.

what transmissions have theses maybe c6 ?
