AOD tranny for 5.0 swap

I'm going to be doing a 5.0 swap into my 88 ranger xlt. Getting the engine and tranny out of an 82 crown Vic and I was wondering if keeping the AOD tranny that's already on it would be a good fit. I might have the option for a c6 but I'm not sure yet. Keeping the rear wheel drive by the way.
