Aod question

Mine does not have that. The kickdown is a rod. It does have a 4 wire connector coming from the tranny however that I do not know where it goes.

Is the plug on the left side of the tranny? Never seen one with a rod but I would like to get a look at it. Sounds easier than the way mine is set up.

If it is a round plug on the driver's side of the transmission, it is probably the reverse light and neutral safety switch. I reused this instead of the B&M switches in shifter, stole the circuit out of my old 2.9L mainharness.

I'll get a picture tomorrow and post it.

As Psycho said the little round plug on the left is for reverse lights and neutral safety switch and I believe it does something else also.

Aod

So my truck has a c-6 and it gets 16.6mpg and I have an aod thinking about swaping with the c-6 but the aod is computer controled right? Would I need the harness and compuuter from the donor or could I make my cruuent 89 5.0 wireing work? Thanks a lot guys

No, the AOD is not computor controlled, the AODE is, The AOD will work inplace of your C6, but you need the torque convertor for aod and the cable which is very importent to get adjusted right. John

well i checked it out more today it says metric on the pan and i dont see a cable i see linkage like rods, also a couple of wires next to the shift mechanism on the tranny i belive its reverse lights and neutral safty switch.. damn it i just had my drivelines made for the c-6 i belive ill have to do that again with the aod.. and i hope my exhaust isnt in the way but if it fits with the c-6 looks like it will clear with the aod.. also wondering will i have a problem puttin the NP 205 fit on the aod just like it did on the c-6?

Make sure if you get the AOD you get the slip joint to go with it. Its an odd spline count and it only fits the AOD from what I know

The slip spline for the driveshaft?

The one from a T5 fits as well. We swapped an AOD into our 89 fox body drag car at work and the drive shaft from the T5 slid right in and bolted right up.

aod has nothing computer controlled, the round plug on the driver side is just neutral and reverse, i had my trans apart to put in a B&M shift lever and it is just a plunger switch. the tv or "kick down" cable hooks to the other bracket on the shifter shaft.

im a little lost :icon_confused: im not useing a slip joint set up its 4x4 and the NP205 uses the u-bolt style set up for the drive shaft.. i was just wondering will the NP205 linkage get in the way of the aod i know the bolt pattern is the same it looked like the c-6 had noches for it to clear i didnt really ssee it on the aod... but i could be blind

the aod-e will have a black square thing on the side that a plug hooks into the aod wont but the aod will have one plug going to it for the neutral sensing switch.

I wasnt thinking about your trans being 4wd. I was told that the T5 slip yoke didnt work.

It worked 3 years ago when we built the drag car at work.

so does anyone have a aod with a NP205? i know its not a aod-e its a aod so i got the right one :icon_thumby:
