I got everything all buttoned up this morning. When I put the trans in gear and it doesnt move at all. It doesnt make any noise or anything. My TV cable isnt hooked up yet but even when I put it in gear and put pressure on the cable nothing happens. I checked a code on a plug that was on the side of my trans which I think is the neutral and backup lamp switch, it showed my trans as being an 86 so I know it doesnt need the computer. Im stumped. Any ideas?

Running the trans without the TV cable functioning properly is a bad idea. Not to scare you, but it literally takes about one shift under load without the line pressure (from the TV cable) and its toast. Do you know if the trans was functioning properly before you swapped it?

1986 AOD doesn't use a computer. What is the fluid level like? Not having the TV cable connected is a bad idea under any condition, but you should at least be able to get it in gear at idle.

Is your cooler clear?

have you tried to remove on of the cooler lines to see if fluid flows?

It was running before I put it in. I havent tried to move it but simply put it in gear and see if it would move. I put it in gear and pulled on the cable and it doesnt do anything.

I never found out for sure what the plug on my trans is for so I dont know if thats it or not

Didn't install the converter in properly and broke the pump ?? Before starting the engine check the fluid level. Start the engine and re-check the level. It should be much lower than the first reading.

Still check the fluid level as I described. It'll give an indication if the pump is working.

I checked it and hooked up the tV cable. I had to drop the trans rear down and work the cable up over the top of the bell housing. I got it hooked up and it did need more fluid. I got it to move around but its moving very slowly and my motor for some reason isnt wanting to stay running now that I hooked the driveshaft up. Its like its barely idling and moving. Give it any gas at all and it chokes out

Well thats my thoughts too, Im thinking some idiot overfilled the oil because it was puking oil out the dipstick. Im gonna drain it and refill it correctly. I think it may be pushing oil past the rings and its trying to compress oil instead of gas vapor.
