Anyone see the new SHO?

Meh... I'd rather not have a traditional torque converter automatic, but if you gave me one of the newer electronically shifted sequential manual boxes I wouldn't complain, even if it had an automatic mode.

Im sorry guys, but no manual, no way. In the 50s and 60s (too young to remember but ive been told) If you wanted an automatic trans you sat in the passenger seat. real enthusiasts piss on automatic transmissions. Ive never owned one and hope i never will have to

But it is ok if you have a fuel injected engine without points and manual choke? Exactly where does an "enthusiast" draw the line?

The new Taurus looks really sharp, but I think if I wanted to spend that kind of money for a performance car I would rather get a 'Stang...

4400 LBS! Wow,I didnt know they weighed that much. I haven't read the perfromance specs yet but at 4400 lbs its a porker. It should have killer traction with AWD and that much weight though. $38,000 is alot also but I wouldn't buy a brand new car anyway....even if I could afford one,I'll let someone else take the 20% value drop when it's driven off the lot.

5500RPM?

How much torque does it make?

5500RPM is just awful high, thats where most engines redline.

This good enough for you? Take the most the 2.9/3.0 ever make (170 ft-lb's at 2600rpm), double it and then some, then enjoy from 1700rpm all the way to 5500rpm.

Here's the 2.0:

And the 3.5:

That ecoboost stuff is spooky stuff, pretty much chuck the rules of thumb out the window when dealing with it.

Damn! Look at that torque curve!.......err, leap I mean, lol.

That's exactly what i was thinking. Holy cow. 38k is pretty high though, i agree. If i were to spend that kind of money on a new vehicle, it would be the Raptor :)

I read the performance specs last night: 0-60 in 5.7,1/4mi 14.2@101 mph and 25 mpg highway. They need to offer a "stipper" model with less weight. I know it's an expensive car but I'm wondering if they will offer a police package. Also in the near future used ones will be available as well as totaled cars. Imagine this drivetrain in a 3,500 lb package. At that weight I'd guess it would run in the low 12's and 0-60 in around 4 seconds :)

Was that time you quote with the performance package (3.31 gears)? When you're family would outgrown that Mustang you love, it would be a great move up. Can't compare a sports car with a four door sedan but with more hp and the AWD, would be fun and not all that much more than a compreable Mustang.

What planet are you on? Most engine's today redline at 6000-6500rpm, make peak power somewhere after 5000rpm, and peak torque at 3-4krpm. gen III SBC's redline at 6000-6500 and gen IV SBC's can redline at 6600rpm+ and these are "old school" pushrod motors. (LS1 made peak power at over 5500rpm and LS2 made peak power at 6000rpm) I'd dare you to say those motors don't make torque ;)

5500rpm is a perfectly legitimate engine speed to make peak power and still make good low end torque, ESPECIALLY for a turbo car. If anything, its kinda low. My guess is they undersized the turbo's and pushed more boost a bit for more low end grunt and quicker spool. After all it is a ~$40k car, most likely to be driven by middle age men in their mid-life crisis, so they don't exactly care about bouncing off the limiter and making power at redline. And like someone else said, the car is a pig. 4400lbs is a joke for a car with sporting intentions.

It's likely fords response to the now defunct G8 while trying to remain CAFE compliant, IMO they missed the target price point by about $10,000

4400lbs....that like, what, almost a grand more than the Ranger?

My 4x4 weight 3700ish with myself, my brother, a grille guard, bedliner and a full tank of gas. Newer ones are probably heavier.

It isn't a 4dr, and only had 110hp new though.

its 300 pounds less than mine. I'd be luck to hit 0-60 in a minute much less 6 seconds!
