Anyone play a musical instrument?

I have played drums for about 13 years with a break here and there. Self taught and able to sustain 240+ bpm.

I have a old westbury set and only use sabian cymbals. Used to have some nice paiste hats but they died.

milje, how do you like the ESP? I was considering getting an ESP or a Schecter

It's a pretty nice guitar, but it's for sale. I have all my stuff set up for passive humbuckers, with the actives it doesn't sound right if I just plug in, and I'd hate to have to mess with my EQ during a gig. I'm trying to get another ML off a guy right now actually.

It plays really good and sounds great once you get everything set up though.

My dad had sticks in my hands as soon as I could hold on to them, but I didn't have a clue until I was about 7 or 8. I always wanted to play as fast as possible. I took lessons for about 9 years and was in marching band for about a year and a half. I quit the second year of band because it was just getting too serious and wasn't any fun.

I have 3 kits; Roger R-380, Slingerland, and a Gretsch - all are older than me. The love the uniqueness of the older drums. Cymbals, I am not very loyal to a specific brand as to how it just actually sounds. My first kit was a Clear Green Ludwig Vistalight 7 piece oversize concert toms. I traded it to my dad because he wanted to restore it, he has since made it double bass, added 2 more toms, and replaced all hardware with original stuff.

I used to play Axis, but I ran into a geometry issue in the linkage with the beaters I like to use. They are also gutless (no power), I spent countless hours tweaking that stupid thing. I started on putting the long boards onto a set of Iron Cobras, but I need $150 to finish it and all my project money is going to my truck for the time being.

Still an ongoing project:

I usually record with brass snares, but I use a marching snare live. Sounds great.

What do you need for your iron cobra? Those pedals are amazing.
Although I still like my squeak king for outright speed. I still have marks on my shinbone from learning to heel toe on that creaky old beater.

I've been playing drums for like 30 years, always in a band that plays out. I currently have 3 sets but I love my exports and I am a K custom junkie, Zildjian rules! The pic is an export set but not mine, these guys opened for us and I used his kit. I'm also using the Iron Cobras, never heard of anyone doing a longboard swap, that's cool Pete!

Many years ago

This is me in my senior year of HS. I think I was drafted into the Confederate Army shortly afterward. :yahoo:

How long did you have to hold still for the picture to be taken :icon_rofl:

I have my Schecter Ultra and a Cort X6 as a beater. I'm a better guitar tech than a player. I work at one of the local shops here in Ann Arbor. I'll post some pictures up when I get home.

Haha, my dad is the same way. I hope that I can say the same thing 20 years down the road.

Speed king was my first pedal, but eventually that steel strap broke and I bought a Gibratlar double pedal. It was a big POS. :(

The big thing is I just wanted to mess around with doing some heel-toe stuff. My feet are too long, when my heel is at the base, my toes are in contact with the chains. I started ripping apart my Axis, but changed my mind because of how much they cost. I bought 2 used single cobras for the swap, but they've just been setting. I really need to get on it.. I need to get the long board conversion kits, cheapest I've seen is 150 with a long wait, or about 200 if I want them now.

I can play a couple things poorly, some more poorly than others! :icon_rofl: Have a JC Penny special acoustic, good enough for my skills, and it was free! Learned recorder in grade school (didn't everyone?). Can play a couple things on harmonica, and have a little bitty squeezebox that uses the same note structure. And a jaw harp, which is about as complex as a kazoo:icon_twisted:. Have a fiddle that I keep thinking I'm going to start playing around with.

Played tenor sax for a little over 3 years, all throughout middle school. Quit when highschool started, I wanted no part of that marching band thing. Picked up bass a couple years later and started taking lessons but that had to stop to when I got my first job. Thinking about picking it back up again. Just have to relearn that whole reading music thing.
