My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
I could of gotten by without a tune for the cam im gonna put in the ranger.. but now I'm planning on shoehorning a longtube header in the thing to compliment the cam.. which would mean moving the first o2 sensor 3' back from where it should be. It probably won't be happy about that.. tweecer seems like the most affordable and easy to use option..

Anyone with experience? @bobbywalter perhaps?

Did you mean tweeker or twerker?

I wouldn't say no to a twerking tweecer tuner.. no tweekers though. I gotta deal with enough of them at work 😑

I've got one but I haven't installed it yet, thought I had timing issues when I first installed my supercharger, then I realized I just had bad spark plugs and its been pretty happy since. Maybe someday though.

Well.. at least it was an easier solution lol. Lemme know how it goes if you get around to it.. or wanna sell it!

I'm curious about the Tweecer as well. I'm going to need something to tune the Ranger after the V8 swap. I can manage the PATS with what I have, for scan and USB dongle, but it's not going to stay "stock" forever. A year or so back I would have used a quarter horse, but they closed up shop and hard to get used.

I'll be looking at either Tweecer or one of the big canned tune companies like SCT. I hate to go the SCT route when the canned tunes probably won't be worth having. I actually have an old SCT X2 tuning device for the 4.0L engine in the truck, but I don't know if the device is still supported by custom tuners.

A lot of guys on shoforum used the tweecer on the obd1 SHO cars, there are still some around there that have experience with it.

I never used one, I have always used SCT, but I have their proracer s/w so I can make my own tunes. But they limit how many pcm unlocks I can have, so I am maxed out.

I worked on a 57 T Bird with a pretty stout 351 that had an aftermarket port injection system on it. It ran a Ford EEC IV processor with an 89 Crown Vic ID number on it. The Tweecer was plugged into the circuit board through a hole cut in the processor case. Once I got countless hacked up wires straightened out it ran strong. Until they took it out of storage the following spring and jump started it backwards. Mike Glover at Tweecer was very helpful and reprogrammed his unit for me, the guy at the EFI company was useless and offered no help- not even a schematic, he wanted to sell me a kit to convert it to OBD II for $3000. He said I could install it in a weekend so I asked if he'd ever been under a 57 T Bird dash. I'd run a Tweecer if I had an EEC IV truck.

Suspicious... Just after posting this, a SCT X4 for Ford popped on FBMP feed. $150. I don't think SCT's canned tunes would be good for long term use, but might be some improvement for a stock engine. It would also give me a newer tune device that I'm certain custom tuners would support.

I know nothing about buying one of those devices used though, other than making sure it is unmarried to a vehicle.

tweecer is not easy. if you can find a dyno guy that will use it you will be way ahead. otherwise....it is a process.

Thanks for the input.. if not tweecer.. what would you reccomend? Anything in particular that makes tweecer more difficult to use than other options?

Ms3 or Holley. Or adapt a elm style processor via hp tuners from a coyote
