Anyone have carfax?

I need a vin checked. My mothers van died and shes looking at a VW Jetta. I'd like to run a report on it.

Nobody here has Carfax.
If you used the search button, you would find out that people around here dont use carfax because it only covers things that through insurance... Any accidents, ect, that doesn't go through insurance wont show up. You need to go and look at the car, its really your only option.

I asked a few weeks ago about a carfax report because I have a truck from the USA, and I wanted to know where it was sold/when it was imported and shit, but I got bombarded with responses saying pretty much exactly what I just said (even though I didn't care about accident damage or anything, I already own the truck... I just wanna know where shes been.)

All true.

Koda, run your fingers on all the body lines (between hood & fender// door & roofline, etc) and your fingers will feel differences in the alignment that your eyes may not see.

Make sure there are no junkyard numbers on suspension parts or bumpers, either.

Don't look at the car after it's been warmed up. Look at a cold engine, and let it warm up in front of you.


Dunno about a CarFax though. At the end of the day, it's not a big deal. Fender benders and cash money don't go through insurance, as previously stated.

My Zx2 is from California and spent a number of years as a fleet vehicle. It was then registered in Ohio for a few years, and made it's way to Endicott and Oxford NY. I would never have known that if it wasn't for Carfax.

if you have been here so long, why have you not seen any of the other carfax posts? I have only been registered here for two months, and this is at least the 4th one, and the responses are always the same.. Don't trust car fax, without anyone saying they have it...

this seems like another topic for straycat's head to explode over... Lol

I have had several done on here. It works like this.

Somebody buys unlimited carfax for the month because he's looking at alot of cars. He then decides to be a bud and checks peoples rangers/etc for them.

Sure it doesn't happen often, but you need to plan for the unexpected.

Another example, I have never seen a Zx2 S/R at my local junkyard. But I always bring the tools to pull the cluster, ecu, suspension, exhaust, and intake. I always keep an eye out too, expect the unexpected.

No need to be such a downer.

Not trying to be a downer, but as stated, I have asked about carfax and with the responses I got, one woulda thought I was asking if seafoam was any good....

I'm still trying to get info on my truck, but not willing to pay for it. Lol
