When I was a kid, my parents had a camper on a small lot they owned in a campground. We would go there on the weekends and for a week or two in the summer.

Sometimes I think it would be cool to have a small cabin to get away to kind of like we did when I was a kid, but I would rather have a small cabin than a camper.

Yep! My grandpa has a cabin up in Colorado, I go there every summer (except last summer due to my leg), but I spend 2 months up there once, I love it up there in the mountains, it's usually very nice. I ride my dirt bike, shoot guns, fish, and play around in my truck. The year before I got bit by a western widow spider, and it wasn't fun.

My parents have a place. My in-laws did until last year when a family friend changed some wiring and it caught fire and became a total loss. No insurance on it either. The cabin was built in the 1940's. The family had owned it for 56 yrs.

i want one in the mountains eventually. it'll have to have some creature comforts though, else the wife wont go

I'd like to have this place, even if it was in my backyard.

That would be an awesome workshop.

My dad and I co-own a house up at a place called Trinity Lake about 130 miles from where I live now. We bought it as an unfinished new home and are in the process of finishing it off right now. I'm actually going up this weekend to check out the insulation job that was done before we get the sheet rock guy in there. It's a great place, but it's still a little to urban for me. I want a cabin in the woods, away from people. A place where I can walk outside in morning and enjoy a cup of coffee in the buff, or shoot clay pigeons off the back deck.

Yup, everyday...I live here. 58 acres with hundreds of acres around me. Nearest neighbors are 1/2 mile either side of me. No need to leave.

Pic from one of my shooting ranges.
My get away is my garage.

Sent from inside my 1993 ranger xlt 4.0, most likely

don't look anything like this stuff.. but I have 38.5 acres to escape to in Pontotoc MS

My "Getaway" cabin is a 94 Aerostar with the seats removed in back, an air mattress, rod racks on the ceiling, a kayak rack on the roof and a trailer hitch if I need to haul more. It hides me away anywhere I can park it for some quiet time on the water or sun and sand. Best trade I ever made. Neighbor was 26 his Mom passed and he ended up with it. I saw it in his back yard and asked what a young single guy needed with a minivan and he told me how he got it. I said, what ya gonna do with it, he says "trade it for something cool, or some cash dunno. I walked him over to my garage and pointed at an old foosball table I had leaned up against the wall for several years and said trade ya even and I'll throw in 2 12pk of your fav beer. One $100 foosball table 2 12pks of Icehouse and I had a clean, fully loaded, 98k orig mile van. Ive had it 6 yrs . It now has 164k still drives good and does what I need. Ive even pulled a 21ft boat with it a few times when my Yukon has been down or I wanted my "camper" with me..
