Anyone had any experience with this vacuum pump?

Gonna retrofit my R12 system on my 89 2.9 and want to vacuum it out. I know it requires an air compressor, which I have. I don't have manifold gauges, and don't really care to purchase them, I'll just let it run for 30 mins to pull the vacuum. Anyone out there that's used this thing without a manifold? The instructions don't seem to be clear on what I need to hook it up with, so I'm wondering if I can even do it without a manifold gauge.

I read that you really have to have one heck of a compressor to keep up with that unit. Without gauges how will you verify you've pulled vacuum and don't have leaks after you pull vacuum? What is your plan on charging the system without manifold gauges?

Yeah you can't hook anything up without a set of gauges.
A set of gauges is like $60 or something at that same place (comes with the hoses & stuff, though you'll still need a valve for your freon cans)... Buy it and do it right.

Yes, that vacuum pump needs a very healthy compressor for it to pull a decent vacuum (like 8 CFM at 115 PSI or better, which is more than what it claims it needs on the unit).
