i went mountain biking for the first time on a real trail this monday. it was something i have always been curious about and it totally blew all of my expectations out of the water. the trail my co workers took me on was by far not for beginners and only after the first mile of watching me struggle did they inform me that there was 9 more miles of this hell to go! and to make things tougher on my mind was that i ran out of water 5 miles in so i had to hack it all the way back to the car. luckily the last mile of the trail it started to rain and it really cooled me off. i was even trying to drink the rain until a bug flew in my mouth and met his fate. that 10 mile ride was the hardest physical thing ive ever done and i wanted it to be over so bad while i was riding that i almost didnt take time to enjoy my surroundings and the peacefulness of the trail. now that im back home and in my comfort zone again i just want to load up and go back for more punishment...........after the soreness in my legs goes away:D

i went on a day biking trip with the outdoor club at my college last fall to Acaydia Nation Park near Bar Harbor Maine. i think the loop we went on was 15 miles or so. but it wasnt trails i was like a wide dirt road just for bicycles horses and people thats it. the up hills were real gradual and long so you felt like they were never gunna end and you were dying haha, but the down hills you could get some real speed goin fo sho. i didnt do too bad for being outa shape and some of the views we had were pretty killer.

I love mountain biking, I haven't got the money to build a proper bike yet but in the summer I bike like 20 miles round trip to work and back through all different trails, but when it starts getting cold I have to drive cause after 3 hours of pick up soccer a few times a week its like 10 o clock before I go home so its cold and dark (seeing as i haven't found a way to run some daylighters on my bike yet...:stirthepot:)

I have been mountian biking for a few years now and rather enjoy it. I feel you on the first ride though; my first time was pretty rough, but the more you do it the better/easier it is.

I remember Acadia National Park. I was stationed up there back in '99 at good ole NSGA Winter Harbor. Beautiful scenery winter/summer.

Down here in GA I ride a good bit, we've got trails right here on campus and our local SORBA club provides bikes for us to use if needed. The first few rides are rough, but you learn to enjoy them.

yes, when someone can shuttle me

I would like to try downhill but Ive never really done any mountain biking. I know they run the lifts out here in the summer at keystone and maybe a few others. But I have been doing freestyle bmx(I used to compete but these days I just do it for fun, trying to stay healthy you know) and riding motocross trails and tracks for years. :icon_thumby:

I hit up a popular local mountain every Wednesday evening with a small group of people and do 10 to 15 miles. It has a mixture of singletrack and fireroads with A LOT of rocks. I just started last June and was also amazed at how fun it is and the workout is crazy... riding up a steep rocky hill singletrack for an hour straight is quite the task, but its awesome to get to the top and bomb down a trail. I just now got a decent bike, a lightly used 2005 Marin Hawk Hill SE, for $260 off a craigslist ($700 new), and man what a difference it makes!

Crawlin91 you would rock it up at Silverstar mountain in Vernon BC , it is like a bmx downhill track for big bikes.

theres miles of trails, even ones with water falls and its just awesome on a nice day
