anyone else mad about "cash for clunkers"?

DO NOT GO TO THE WEBSITE CARSDOTGOV the website that is set up for the cash for clunkers program if you do the government owns your computer.

Glenn Beck exposes a privacy agreement on the "Cash for Clunkers" website that in part reads: "This application provides access to the DoT CARS system. When logged on to the CARS system, your computer is considered a Federal computer system and is the property of the U.S. Government."

If they did nothing they would be catching just as much crap.

It is already in the Tailgate:

From the people who actually think that cash for clunkers helps at all.

But for people like me...

You know what the best kind of government intervention is?

NONE. The recession would fix itself faster if the government wasn't trying to come up with solutions. They hamper the healing process by doing such stupid things as what got us in this mess in the first place.

lol i went up to the dealers and i was asking how much for the fords there was a really nice old 250 i think it was a 90? crew cab he wouldnt sell it =(

its bull tbh i mean i would do it with a chevy but fords!!!!!!!!!! wtf!!! my 3.0 had 380k on the clock when she went boom and ya know what im doin is just stickin another motor in there..... much...mich bigger to the tune of 8.0 ;)

but still!

Wow man. I had no idea that those cars were slated for destruction....What a total waste. I am ill thinking of this. To think there are people driving around in total pieces of crap cause its all they can afford, and later model cars are getting intentionally seized.

This whole bill has well meant intentions (read not thought out) but not going to work to the best for those who can not afford to go out and buy a new $25K car/truck. 250K motors being destoryed, how many would have really low miles and made a great contribution in replacing a motor that has over 200-250K miles on it. Now they want to expand it with just another two billion dollars of our money.

i drove by one of the places that had "clunkers" alot of them are really not bad cars. it pisses me off that they are locking up perfectly good cars. what happend to "if it aint broke, dont fix it"

That's my point... They are late model cars.. and to be included...they have to run and drive!!! Why, so they can have more fun blowing them up?!

I saw chevy conversion's and late model expeditions...it's assinine.

I agree that this program is pathetic. It doesn't help anyone get into a better car. The only people I know doing it are relatively well off and trading in their older second cars for new ones. The assholes that drive things that belch blue smoke and never have more than $3 in gas in the tanks at any given time can't afford to participate in the program.

The program would have been more effective and cheaper if the used cars could have been traded into by the people with even worse cars--people that couldn't afford a new car even with $4,500 knocked off. Naturally, they are helping the people that don't need helped--as usual.

But I don't care about the crushing cars thing. Just the principal of the thing.

And who do they think is footing the $4500 bill off each one? They are, as are we, in our taxes.

Just like the homebuyer tax credit last year. I claimed mine... to a tune of $7500... This year they get $8000. But... The people who get the $8000 get it for nothing, unlucky me as to PAY IT BACK over the next 15 years! WTF!

The money has already been alocated under the TARP (Troubled Assistant Release Program) fund, they are just taking it out of one pocket into another that might need it more or less in this case. How many in Congress actually know what's going on ( I know loaded question) with the common people?

Nifty. I work at a Ford dealership, and we have a pen full of cars to waste. There are some real P.O.S's, but most of them look better that what I drive. My cars wouldn't qualify even if I wanted... they get 30mpg.

Waste and ruin, it's the American way. :icon_thumby:

Let's go after old houses next, some of them are inefficient and have lead paint and asbestos. Start with the neighborhoods with those old victorians.
