Just got my newest aquarium up and running (was an early Christmas present to myself) Its a Fluval Osaka 80 gallong bent glass aquarium with matching stand and suspended T5 HO dual lighting. I've got 5 Discus in it, 6 algae eating shrimp, and 1 clown plecostamus. All the plants are live and i'm running CO2 for fertilizer.

Here a couple of pictures:

This is my 3rd tank. The others are a 55 gallon full of african cichlids, and a 40 gallon cube with my 2 angel fish and a green severum in it.

Any other fish nuts out there?:icon_twisted:

Ive had a couple oscars before in a 55 gal and koi in our pond, but have had more fun with some of the native fish around here, like some bass and catfish but im waiting to throw a couple small pike in my 150 gal this spring and see how big i can get em.
But thats a real nice set up you got there.

wheres the tarter sauce?
lol

nice tank!always wanted one but dont have the time to keep the freakin thing clean.

How do you keep your plants alive in the gravel?

Mine always started off great then slowly died off, and a buddy said it was because of the gravel; said I should use dirt or sand instead.

I got a 55g with a Jack Dempsey, a 20g with a couple giant Danio's and another 20g with a Convict... he had friends but ironically he killed them all.

My cousin just set up a 55g for a small largemouth bass and it is really cool.

I am thinking if something happens to my JD I will be shopping for something similar (Bass, Crappie, Bluegill...)

Nice tank, I love clean well organized setups like that.

I used to have a little tank in my room, but I went away on vacation and my brother "forgot" to change the filter, feed the fish, and water my several lizards/toads.

I ended up loosing all of my fish, an emerald swift lizard with BEAUTIFUL coloring that I had for a few years, a common toad I was quite attached to, and several green anoles. Only one of the Anoles died from thirst, the others died from depression. The toad dried up, he never turned his light off and it dried the entire cage out. Same with the anoles. Only one he fed was the swift, I guess when he realized he forgot to feed them he went in there, saw the green tank (left it) and the dead toad/anoles and decided that feeding the starving swift something big would keep him alive. He fed him a pink mouse, his throat could maybe handle something half that size and it ripped something internally. I have a feeling he died from an intestinal blockage/bursting.

After that, I got a few more fish, but one of them had an illness that I didn't forsee and it spread to the others.

The first group was an albino african clawed frog, two dwarf frogs, a translucent shark, and a plecko. The african frog cut himself on the artificial plant life, his intestines poked out of the wound a little bit, we tried to put them back in with no luck (he was only an inch big) but he lived for about 6 months before the shark decided to nibble on him. I loved the dwarf frogs, amazing little guys. And unlike the African frog, they don't get big and eat everything. I would have had to move him to a separate tank but they stay around an inch long. I even heard them "sing" one night.

The second group was a sword tail (after the shark died), two little things that the fish store didn't say what they were, a pair of apple snails, a freshwater pufferfish (beautiful fish, i would buy another if given the chance) an iridescent shark, and a plecko once the snails stopped cleaning as good as they did to begin with.

I want to get another setup, but on a larger scale. That tank was too small, and didn't get much attention.

I'll look around for my picture of my two little fish, maybe someone can identify.

I have a feeling the color was artificial..

I would love to get a ship model and "sink" it, make it look like it got hit by a torpedo or three and has been down there for decades.

I have a couple regular sunken ship statue things that look ok from a distance, but they get bubbles in the paint after they have been in the water for awhile.

Found it.

I had a pink one and a blue one. They used to play together in the tank, funny as hell. You can even see most of my little shark in there. Can you guess his name? :D Turtles are fake, I thought they looked good in there. The nasty crap on the bottom was an "algae wafer" for when there wasn't anything for my Plecko to eat. Acted like a cat on catnip when he got near one of those. He's just barely in the picture on the bottom right. Funny thing about those turtles, one of them got air in it somehow and started to float, my little niece came up to me crying saying that my turtle died. :) I took them out after that.

Those are tetras, I had some in my original setup a long time ago. They lived a long time, a lot longer than I thought they would after I found out they were dyed. They do fade as they age though.

They are a fun fish, they have some that are gray and black that are the same basic thing but not dyed as well.

Thought so. I just have never seen them dyed before, or so small. I think whether or not they live good through the dying process depends on the amount and type of the dye, as well as whether it was put in during the egg or baby stage.
