Does anyone like their beam front end better than the a arms for a street only truck (commuter)

I have a beat 95 <3 that has a 2.5L i put in it and 15" explorer wheels. Handles and drives great. Interior is falling apart and the exterior is what my dad calls "hammered dog shit in red"

Bought a 2001 last night 2.5L manual. It runs okay. it has 15" wheels with less backspace and larger diameter tires.

I think the wheels on the 01 are screwing up the feel of the truck. some extra scrub radius and it sits about 1.25 inches higher

anyways it feels quite different. I dont like it....
My 95 has more sneeze room in the steering.
Possibly turns tighter.
goes down the freeway better (maybe because the 01 has additional scrub)
and feels like it has less understeer.

Im going to try my stock explorer 15" wheels on the 01 and hope that it rides like my 95

definately not my 02 handles 100000000x better than my 95 did

I agree with rose, my 06 can hang with the best of them through the corners and handles dips and bumps much better than my 94 splash did. A lot of that is spring and shock though..

Sent from my computer phone.

Yes, my '90 handled way better then my '01 does.

The '90 had 245/45zr17s on 17x8 Cobra wheels, 1.25" wheel spacers, lowered 2", 1 3/16" front swaybar, 1" BII rear sway bar, KYB shocks, and a few other things.

My '01 has worn out stock shocks, must sit 2" tall then the the '90 did before it got lowered, crappy almost worn out tires on '03 Cobra wheels.

Check the sway bar sizes (and if they are even there, they are options.), they makes a huge difference.

i think it may be the wheel/tire combo.
Or some worn out ball joints.
maybe its that I appreciate the feel of the stable real instant center that the actual swingarm that an i beam is feels compared to the virtual swing arm with a migrating roll center the a arm truck has.

they appear to have the same diameter sway bar.
