My 1350 has been a pretty good transfer case so no need to swap it as of yet however I would like to convert it over to a fixed yoke some how. Has anyone ever done this before? My best idea was to cut the splines off of the current yoke and weld them to the output on the transfer case and weld a flange to the front of the splines. Seems fairly straight forward to me, it may not be super strong but I think it would hold up decent. Any ideas?

there are 2 ways to do it right.
you need the front output shaft from an stx case. i have a brand new shaft for this. it was discontinued by ford, well over 10 years ago. i bought the "last one in the country" according to ford parts. i bought it from an obsolete parts house, sight unseen. it was supposed to be the rear shaft. when i got it, it was the front shaft from an stx case. (good luck finding one, took me 6 weeks to find it, and i worked at a dealer at the time!!! that was 13 years ago!!)

OR find yourself an 87-89 stx "high rider" or "sport rider" t-case ( every one says that they were available in other years, what do i know!). i have 2 of these cases sitting in my garage, and one front driveshaft. ill go take some pics as soon as i get a chance.

While it's POSSIBLE to locate an STX "package 2" (aka Highrider)
T-case AND it's unique front driveshaft, (note a 1987 manual
transmission is a different unique shaft from the '87 Auto or '88-89 Shaft)
that is held to the T-case with UNIQUE bolts (they are smaller than
the 13-54 bolts)...

Generally it's FAR easier to simply swap in a later 13-54 T-case which
is a fixed yoke t-case.
