Either way. These generic grille gaurds off nearly zero protection. I have seen way too many of these at our collision shop and they may actually cause more damage than they stop. They have a tendency to transfer damage to the other side of the truck in reference to an impact point making you have to fix both sides. They don't seem to help prevent damage on the side of the hit either.

If you order one make sure you have a friend to help carry it. And perhaps look into beefing up the front springs.

Oh boy, a frame that is made to crumple (any RBV 1989+) in an accident is going to love that... I would take sheetmetal damage over frame damage anyday.

Any it that would damage the frame is going to damage the frame without a good bumper too. The point is to avoid the sheetmetal damage. Really hard hits are going to damage the frame regardless of what's hanging on the thing.

They are designed to crush the same as a stock bumper, so what is the point?

Besides for the price of one of those, I could just buy another Ranger...

I got my grille guard most to keep deer out of my radiator at all costs, my last deer spun off of my stock bumper (giving it only a minor dent) and into my fender behind my front wheel... the fanciest bumper or grille guard in the world (aside from an exo) wouldn't have done a darn thing better to prevent damage. The bodywork for the fender alone was more than my deductable, so bumper replacement wasn't a cost issue anyway. It did get me thinking though that if I had been going a little slower I would have bought it right in the middle and would have probably been stranded, so I nabbed my Westin for $75 so at least I can keep on truckin' if I get hit again.

Not to mention I could hit a couple deer even with my $500 deductable before that thing would pay for itself... as long as the deer didn't spin into the side or do anything else goofy.

I found this grille guard on jcwhitney's site, and wondering if anybody has ever put one on their truck (more specifically, a mazda b-series).

The provided picture is probably generic, but similar. Looks good enough for me.
Im looking for a grille guard I can weld some light guards onto later down the road.

This one looks like it bolts to the frame underneath?

Any info/pictures is appreciated, thanks

i had a similar one on my 95. i bought it just for looks and to mount lights. but it is pretty tough, mine survived a few whacks into trees...

Does anybody know if ARB makes a steel bumper for a '96 mazda b4000 or ranger?? they have one on the website for the mazda, but i think its for the international version, which isnt the same?????

If i could find a steel bumper i would buy it in a heart beat, but nobody makes one for my truck.

That looks sweet.......but what about air flow to the rad? At least some sort vent should be in that bumper like the stock one had.

i think big bumpers can be very safe, to an extent. ive knocked over trees with mine, pushed full size chevys around with it, but when i actually crashed into something unexpectingly my bumper demolished my grille, radiator and core support. but i believe with out it i wouldnt be here talking to you guys.

the truck was totalled, but i managed to put together another ranger and that beefy ass bumper went back on it.

that one wont fit on a mazda... i already tried. the mounts for the bottom of it arent any where close. i was able to find a grizzly one that fit but they are few and far between.

Can anybody show me what my options for a grille guard for a 1999 Ranger XLT with front tow hooks would be? I can't seem to find many results for the later Rangers. I'd like something like the first poster had posted images of, just something simple I can install lights on, but would opt for a full brush guard if its priced right and doesnt look dumb. Thanks and there are some cool rigs posted in here.

Well I've decided to ditch whats on the market and build my own grill guard/ place for lights.

Seems many of these grille guards you can buy mount right to the under side of the frame rails. Well that doesnt work for me b/c i have receiver hitch mounted there already.

Im going to buld one that bolts directly to the sides of the reciever (which is 1/4 plate and strong as hell). Then Ill find some round or squre tubing and weld those inbetween both sides, painter up, and call it a weekend (then go inside and order some KC daylighters)
