im looking at an 85 Nissan king cab also known as the datsun 720. does anybody know anything about them in terms of reliability this one is 4x4 manual and runs and lot drives well. i have yet to drive it at any rate of speed because its in our junkyard and i have it on hold so it wont get crushed. possibly use it as my new commuter because i get free gasoline from the Junkyard so my Diesel car is kinda useless.

its crap you shouldnt get it...... can you tell me where it is for sale and how much so i can buy it.

any how great trucks. solid engines head gaskets if taken care of should last till 200,000 miles. flaws i know of is bodies are prone to cancer

Sounds like a cool truck. Can't say anything about reliability, as I have never owned one, but always dreamed about owning one. And as this is a forum where we can never get enough pictures.........

:worthless:

Snatch that thing!!!!!!!! I had an 85 reg cab and the thing was INDESTRUCTABLE. I delivered pizza in that thing for 4 years and it never missed a beat. If I could find another one in decent shape i woulg get it in a heartbeat.

Not allowed to photograph the yard due to the possibility of trade secrets the body is minorly rusty but nothing that actually going through
It has 230000 kms. I work at picknpull and they don't release a vehicle without having a mechanic look over it so if nothing better shows up in the next 3 weeks I think I'm going to be it's owner either that or I'm going to have to put it down

my dad has owned one since he bought it new in 1984. It has over 250,000 miles on it. No joke he parked it outside (still is) over 12 years ago, did not touch it for 6, and all he had to do to start it was juice the battery up...

My first truck was a 1985 720 5 spd kind cab 4x4 with 75,000 miles on it, and it was slow as balls. But it was a mint truck until i rolled it onto its roof. They are somewhat rare, I'd buy it just for the fact that you hardly ever see them running anymore.

I had friends that had Datsun trucks years ago that they bought new and they lasted forever. Regular maintenance and taking care of it is the biggest thing you can do!! Nissan trucks are great and they last forever as well. If you are going to haul heavy stuff I would not recomend it...but light stuff (bikes or a 4 wheeler) should be ok!! Camping would be great with it.
